Our role
The Academic Advising team’s purpose is to help you achieve your goals. Whether it’s selecting courses each term, understanding student policies, or creating a program plan, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
Our team provides support in the following areas:
- Program planning and course selection.
- Meeting the requirements for graduation and academic continuance
- Navigating student policies and procedures
The student’s role
Advisors understand that college is exciting. But knowing your options can be overwhelming. One way to set yourself up for success is to be an informed student. While Academic Advising’s services are not mandatory, we strongly encourage you to contact us when program-related questions arise.
Students are responsible for taking an active role in their academic progress by:
- Meeting your program requirements for graduation
- Understanding course registration and course delivery modes
- Reviewing the important dates calendar
- Checking MyBVC regularly for updates, including your academic progress, and important college announcements. All college communication is sent to MyBVC.
- Familiarize yourself with the student resources available to you.
- Knowing when to contact the Office of the Registrar and which services they provide.
- Ensuring you know when to Apply to Graduate.
