Successful completion of this course adds a specialization to your practical nurse license in Alberta. You will learn about the preparation and administration of immunizations. You'll learn how to safely administer immunizing/biological agents.
This course is available anytime online, or self-paced homestudy*. You will have up to four months to complete this course.

Intramuscular & Intradermal Injections certificate or equivalent. Graduates of a practical nurse program in Alberta since 2006 have covered this material in their program. You'll be asked to sign a confirmation form, once you have registered, indicating the place and year of your graduation, or, when/where you studied this material. The Intramuscular & Intradermal Injections course covers the hands-on skills not covered in the Immunization course.
The final exam is written online. You can write this exam from home. A minimum of 80% on the exam is required to pass the course. One re-write, for a fee of $100, is allowed within 14 days of your course end date.
You will receive a certificate once you have successfully completed the course.
This course is approved by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) for continuing competency credit for Licensed Practical Nurses.
