Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is experiential learning that occurs either in a workplace setting or with the involvement of a host organization. It is a full-time, unpaid opportunity that provides students with intensive, hands-on, practical experience in a setting relevant to their subject of study.
Mandatory Work Integrated Learning
To be eligible for mandatory field placement, you need to finish your coursework and complete all pre-placement requirements. You will receive additional information and an application from the Work Integrated Learning Services team, about 6 months prior to your program completion date.
Administrative Professional Certificate Field Placement
If you started your program Fall 2022 and onwards, your program includes a mandatory field placement for administrative professionals (ADMN1999). Field Placement is full time (150-180 hours or approximately 4 weeks) and is completed in the semester after your course work is finished.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND PRE-REQUISITES
Legal Assistant Diploma Field Placement
If you started your program Fall 2022 and onwards, your program includes a mandatory field placement of 150-180 hours (or approximately 4 weeks). Field Placement for Legal Assistants (LEGL2998) and full time and is completed in the semester after your course work is finished.

Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk Work Integrated Learning
If you started your program Fall 2023 and onwards, your program includes a mandatory work integrated learning experience. You must complete one of the three work integrated learning courses at the end of your last semester of the program:
- Applied Research and Capstone
- Service Learning
- Field Placement

Veterinary Office Assistant Work Integrated Learning
If you started your program Fall 2023 and onwards, your program includes a mandatory work integrated learning experience. You must complete one of the three work integrated learning courses at the end of your last semester of the program:
