Congratulations on your Enrollment in the Veterinary Office Assistant Certificate program!
Your program includes a mandatory work integrated learning course which is completed after you have finished all other courses. You must complete one of three work integrated learning courses. Work integrated Learning runs for 8 weeks at the end of your last semester.Work Integrated Learning Eligibility Criteria and Pre-requisites
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a model and process of curricular experiential education which formally and intentionally integrates your academic studies within a workplace or practice setting. WIL experiences include an engaged partnership between an academic institution (Bow Valley College), a host organization, and yourself - the learner. You must complete one of three WIL courses at the end of your program:
- Applied Research and Capstone Project
- Service Learning
- Field Placement
Academic Pre-requisites
VOAS1997 - Applied Research and Capstone Project
- Completion of 30 credits in required program
- A minimum combined GPA of 2.0 in required program courses
VOAS1998 - Service Learning
- Completion of 30 credits in required program
- A minimum combined GPA of 2.0 in required program courses
VOAS1999 - Field Placement
- Completion of 30 credits in required program
- A minimum combined GPA of 2.0 in required program courses
- A minimum grade of C+ in MGMT1201 (Business Communication), VOAS1402 (Small Animal Behaviour and Handling), and VOAS1601 (Admin Skills for the Veterinary Office)
In addition to meeting academic pre-requisites, you will be required to submit other forms and documents to Work Integrated Learning Services as a requirement to qualify for your WIL course.

Your WIL course begins at the end of your last semester.
