Go Green with Us!
The Sustainability Committee is a volunteer group of staff, students, and faculty with the mission to advance environmental stewardship and champion a College-wide green culture. We draw on the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals to create the College’s environmental plans, track progress, host events, and advance knowledge. Bow Valley College is a co-convener of the Calgary Post-secondary Sustainability Community of Practice.
Currently, we are working on the following projects:
- Climate action planning
- Embedding tenants of sustainability into curricula
- Embedding sustainability into purchasing decisions across the college and reducing our use of single-use plastics
- Installing Electric Vehicle charging stations in our South Campus parkade
- Reaching our college-wide waste diversion goal of 90% and reducing the contamination in our garbage and recycling bins
Student members receive recognition on their co-curricular records for their involvement.
