Bow Valley College's main campus is located in the heart of Calgary's downtown core. There's so much to see and do nearby, but here are a few of our favourite locations in our neighbourhood.

East Village

Bow Valley College is located at the gateway to the East Village, an exciting, growing neighbourhood. There’s plenty of arts and culture at the National Music Centre, Fort Calgary, and at all of the major public art installations throughout the area. You can also go to the Simmons Building for some great coffee and pastries, and restaurants. And if you’re looking to stretch your legs, head on over to St. Patrick’s Island to experience a 31 acre park area designed to bring people closer to nature.

Central Library

The New Central Library will be located across the street from Bow Valley College, and it is scheduled to open in 2018. The new library will feature 240,000 sq ft of space, and be home to special programs and spaces for children and teens, a technology commons, laboratory for innovation, and a centre that supports community integration and advancement. The New Central Library will be a landmark building of design excellence, and we can’t wait for them to become our new neighbor.

Stephen Avenue

Also known as 8th Avenue, Stephen Avenue is a short walk from the College. This pedestrian mall has great restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. It also has plenty of stores, from boutiques to larger retail stores, such as Winners and The Bay. During a school break you can start off at Olympic Plaza, then head West down Stephen Avenue taking in the Summer Busking Series, street vendors, people watching, and the great statues.

Bow River Pathway

This pathway is located just a few blocks away from the College. The Bow River Pathway is very popular over the lunch hour, when downtown workers cycle, run, walk, and rollerblade next to the Bow River. This network runs parallel to the downtown core, and spans 48 kilometres.

Prince’s Island Park

This is a beautiful, large park in downtown Calgary, which is also located just a few minutes’ walk away from the College.

Prince's Island Park holds many large festivals throughout the year, including the Calgary Folk Festival, and the Bow Valley College and City of Calgary Canada Day Pow Wow. There also many unique cultural events such as Cinema Under the Stars, and Shakespeare in the Park, which take place in the park.

The park is also just great for walking around, doing yoga, and getting together with friends for a soccer game, or to throw the frisbee around.

TD Shopping

The Core Shopping Centre is down the street from the College, just two stops away on the CTrain. The mall features 160 stores, from retail stores like The Bay and Simons, to speciality stores such as Indigo and Essence, and there are also plenty of bars and restaurants to catch a bite to eat.

Bars and restaurants

Being a downtown campus puts us at the heart of Calgary's vibrant food and drink scene. There's always something nearby to try out. Looking for pub food, a great chain restaurant, or perhaps something a bit fancier to celebrate something like graduation? You will be spoiled for choice.
