Alumni Engagement as part of Bow Valley College, under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and The Post Secondary Learning Act, collects and uses alumni information for the purposes of administering alumni engagement and for the development of programs for Bow Valley College. As you get an alumni status, your alumni record includes the information you provided as a student or employee except for grade and/or pay information. This information is only updated if you provide it voluntarily. Any information submitted by an individual to Alumni Engagement may be used to update that individual's record. Individuals who submit information to Alumni Engagement acknowledge the above and consent to the collection and use of the disclosed personal information for the purposes stated above.
Your record, your right
Bow Valley College Alumni Engagement uses alumni contact information for the following purposes:
- Alumni e-newsletter,
- A limited number of solicitation campaigns from affinity partners,
- Occasional e-mail, mail and/or phone contact to research and promote new programs,
- Services and events which are relevant to the alumni.
Alumni Engagement does not collect personal information for commercial marketing or distribution to any private organizations that do not have an affinity partner contract with the Bow Valley College. Affinity partners are carefully selected and must offer valued services and/or extend special rates or pricing to Bow Valley College Alumni; revenue generated from those partnerships is used to fund programs and operations of the Office of Alumni Engagement at Bow Valley College. As agreed to by contract, all affinity partner telephone, mail and e-mail communication is handled through a third party mail-house or call centre that will use your contact information only for Alumni Engagement approved initiatives. Any personal information provided by an alumnus to an affinity partner as a result of a solicitation campaign is done so at the discretion of the individual.
Alumni Engagement considers your privacy to be a top priority. You have the right to request that your personal information should not to be used for any of the following purposes:
- Alumni emails,
- Solicitation by affinity partners,
- College fundraising purposes
- Information about events,
- Programs & services offered by Alumni Engagement.
