The Chiu family is well-known for their personal and corporate philanthropy, including establishing the Trico Charitable Foundation. This gift is the largest single contribution in BVC's history, and it illustrates their commitment to the community. In honour of this generous donation, the college renamed the School of Business to the Chiu School of Business on January 22, 2014.

"The naming of the School of Business is a strong endorsement and recognition by the business community that we are delivering a high-quality educational experience to our students," said David Allwright, Dean of the Chiu School of Business.

The donation allows the business school to continue to grow and provide work-ready graduates to the labour market through career programming that responds to the needs of employers. We have already re-developed the popular Business Administration Diploma to include a common first-year, with a variety of second-year specializations that meets market demands and provide students with the ability to customize their education to suit their needs.

"The naming of the School of Business clearly marks a new milestone of partnership and commitment to employers, industry, and community," said Sharon Carry, Bow Valley College's President and CEO. "We are thrilled to be able to announce this new partnership with one of Calgary's leading entrepreneurs and contributors to business and social innovation."

On May 13, 2016 Governor General David Johnston inducted Wayne Chiu into the Order of Canada. Wayne is being honoured for the extraordinary contribution he has made to our city.  His support and commitment to numerous community and charitable organizations is extensive. At Bow Valley College, Wayne served as a Public Member of ourBoard of Governorsfor six years, including a term as Vice Chair of the Board.  Wayne's expertise in development made him a natural to Chair the Board's Campus Development Committee.  His vision shines through in the re-development of the North Campus and the creation of the South Campus. Wayne has left a lasting legacy at our College.
