Course Description

This course introduces instructors to teaching strategies that foster language development and support workplace skill development for newcomers.

In this course you will:

  • Identity the impacts cultural differences have on employer and employee expectations
  • Identity areas for self-development to provide instruction that is culturally respectful
  • Determine a set of soft skills relevant to the general Canadian workplace
  • Integrate cultural sensitivity into your instructional practice to support workplace soft skill development

This course is 100% online and has a peer-learning focus. Successful course completion will be based on active participation in discussion board forums, completion of activities and the submission of a final assignment. The time commitment is typically 12 hours.
