Program Description

In these classes, you will develop English language skills for daily life and work through topics such as workplace, community, culture, healthy living, transportation, and leisure.

Our 10-week in-person regional LINC classes are offered in Airdrie, Banff, and Okotoks.

How to Apply:

  1. Get a language assessment and referral to Bow Valley College from CLARC.
    Book online
    or call 403-262-2656.
  2. Get an Alberta Student Number.
  3. Gather the required immigration documents.

  4. Immigration Category Required Documents
    Permanent Resident
    1. Government issued photo identification (i.e. driver's license, etc.)
    2. Confirmation of Permanent Residency documents (i.e. landing papers)
      Example:
    Convention Refugee / Protected Person
    1. Immigration papers
    2. Government issued photo identification (i.e. driver's license, etc.)

  5. Download and complete a Bow Valley College Application Form.
  6. Email the completed BVC application and ALL supporting documents to LINCapp@bowvalleycollege.ca.
    Please include the location you are applying for in the subject line.

  7. Check your email for updates on your application status.

What to expect:

  • You will get an email from Bow Valley College about your application.
  • We may ask you to provide some missing information or documents. Please do this as soon as possible.
  • You will get an email from Bow Valley College to confirm that you are on a waitlist.
  • When a space in a class becomes available, you will get another email from Bow Valley College with your class enrollment information.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • Permanent Resident or Convention Refugee status
  • LINC referral to Bow Valley College with current Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs)
  • CLB 2-3 class (Banff only):  CLB 1 – 2 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing
  • CLB 4-6 class:  CLB 3- 5 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing

No. This program is open to Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees only.
Regional courses are offered 3 times a year, January, April, and October. This program is 10 weeks long.
You must have benchmarks Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 1 to 6.
