Program Description
In this online program, you can develop your English skills while maintaining your work and family commitments. LINC Home Study is offered from Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 3 to 8. This program is open to southern Alberta residents (outside of Calgary) who are unable to attend LINC classes in person.
Students in LINC Home Study:
- Meet with a teacher online for 30 minutes once a week
- Do 5-7 hours of independent study every week
- Need a computer with high-speed internet, camera, and microphone

Admission Requirements

- Open to permanent residents and Convention refugees.
- CLB placement test results or LINC certificate from a LINC program.
- Minimum CLB levels: 3, 3, 2, 2

You will need your own computer with high-speed internet, up-to-date operating system and software, and a microphone.
You need CLB 3 in Listening/Speaking and CLB 2 in Reading/Writing to start. When you achieve Benchmark 8 in all skills, you will graduate from LINC Home Study.
All LINC students must take a CLB placement test at the Calgary Language Assessment & Referral Centre (CLARC). The telephone number for CLARC is 403-262-2656.
When you have your placement test results, you can register for LINC Home Study. This program runs all year. We will match you with a teacher as soon as possible.
No. The Bow Valley College LINC Home Study program serves southern Alberta residents (outside of Calgary) who are unable to attend LINC classes in person. If you live in Calgary, but cannot attend regular LINC classes, please contact The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) about their LINC Home Study program.
