Course Description
This course is for anyone in the workplace such as managers and employees.
Once you have completed this course, you will be able to:
- Explain how Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation in Canada addresses fire safety
- Identify the fire safety responsibilities of employers and workers
- Describe safe work practices that can reduce the risk of fire
- Know what to do in the event of a fire
- Recognize when to use a fire extinguisher or when it is best to evacuate rather than try to put out the fire
- Identify the types of extinguishers, and which classes of fire they can put out
- Know how to use a fire extinguisher
- Understand the maintenance and servicing requirements of fire extinguishers
