Course Description

This course is for anyone in the workplace such as managers and employees. 

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain how Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation in Canada addresses fire safety
  • Identify the fire safety responsibilities of employers and workers
  • Describe safe work practices that can reduce the risk of fire
  • Know what to do in the event of a fire
  • Recognize when to use a fire extinguisher or when it is best to evacuate rather than try to put out the fire
  • Identify the types of extinguishers, and which classes of fire they can put out
  • Know how to use a fire extinguisher
  • Understand the maintenance and servicing requirements of fire extinguishers
