Course Description

Learn to build simple local area networks (LAN), perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes. This course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the internet and computer networks. The principles of IP addressing and fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations provide a foundation for the curriculum.

Digital textbook and a virtual lab environment for practice and self-study included. You will require a computer with a modern web-browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE8+) and internet connectivity for the home-study and practice portion of this course.

The successful completion of TECH9201 Cisco Introduction to Networks and TECH9202 Routing Protocols and Concepts prepares you to write the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) exam, available at the Bow Valley College Testing Centre. With a grade of 75 per cent or higher on your Cisco exam, you qualify for a 50 - 60 per cent discount on your next Cisco exam.
