A Day Of Celebration, Recognition, And Reconciliation

Professional Development (PD) Day featured news from the President, two keynote speakers, and employee awards.

Yesterday, Bow Valley College held its annual Professional Development Day for its approximately 700 employees. After gathering at the Jack Singer Concert Hall for complimentary coffee at 8:15 a.m., staff heard President and CEO Laura Jo Gunter’s address.

The Long Service Awards and Awards of Excellence followed, with one employee receiving recognition for 40 years of service.

The morning concluded with a keynote address from Pamela Palmater, who spoke about important Indigenous issues and perspectives across Canada.

The afternoon kicked off with a keynote led by the CBC’s Terry O’Reilly who presented on the power of brand.

PD Day has been taking place for the past 20 years at the College. The day is organized collaboratively by the President’s Office, Human Resources, and Marketing and Communications.

Rookie of the Year – Karen Pozniak, School of Health and Wellness

• Faculty Award - Crystal Manyfingers, Research and Innovation

• Service Award – Jacqueline Thompson, School of Community Studies
