Course Description
This course is not part of a program.
This pharmacology course builds on the foundational knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathology, and microbiology to teach safe and effective administration of medications to patients. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of drug classifications, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. You will also learn about the various routes of drug administration including oral, topical, intravenous, and intramuscular, and how to choose the appropriate route for a particular patient and medication.
Additionally, the course will cover important topics such as drug interactions, adverse reactions, and contraindications.
You will also learn about the legal and ethical considerations surrounding medication administration including documentation, informed concern, and patient confidentiality. By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of Canadian medications and be well equipped to provide safe and competent medication administration to patients.

45 hours of self-paced learning material with 15 weeks for completion.

Learner Requirements
Access to a computer and a stable internet connection. You are required to complete all self-study modules and assessments.
Access Time
You have 15 weeks’ access to your electronic materials included in the course, starting at the first of the month. Failure to start your course content on your start date may negatively impact your success in completing the course.
