New Vice President of Learner Experience

Bow Valley College announces new Vice President, Learner Experience

Bow Valley College is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynn Connell as its first Vice President of Learner Experience, effective July 4, 2022.  This newly created position will see Ms. Connell lead Bow Valley College’s learner attraction, including student services and marketing.

The portfolio reflects the College’s commitment to Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and working towards a reconciled Canada where all Indigenous Peoples are respected, valued, and included.

Ms. Connell will guide her team in a market and product-driven approach to uncover the needs and wants of learners, which will influence the overall program and curriculum design.

“It all starts with a visit to our website, seeing one of our ads, or talking to a recruiter. From there, we want students to have meaningful experiences in our classrooms, hallways, and the Iniikokaan Centre,” says Connell. “Each step along the way, we want learners to see that Bow Valley College is the best choice in their post-secondary journey.”

Ms. Connell has an extensive career spanning all aspects of student services. Most recently serving as Bow Valley College’s Director of Student Services and Registrar, her more than 20 years’ experience includes time spent in domestic and international admissions and recruitment and registrarial services. Her expertise extends to counselling, health and wellness, accessibility, financial aid, scholarships and awards, career services, student affairs, student conduct, Indigenous student services, academic support, and library services.

“Ms. Connell is a leader with a keen sense of how the College can remain relevant and sustainable in these times of economic diversification and technological advancements,” says Dr. Misheck Mwaba, President and CEO of Bow Valley College. “Her experience with learners, career services clients, and in building respectful working relationships with our First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) communities will be invaluable in supporting the strategic direction of the College.”
