Bow Valley College named one of Alberta’s Top 75 Employers for the seventh consecutive year

CALGARY – Bow Valley College is proud to be named one of Alberta’s Top 75 Employers in 2020. The annual competition recognizes Alberta employers that offer excellent places to work by going above and beyond. “It is an honour to achieve this recognition, and to receive the title seven years in a row demonstrates that Bow Valley College continues to be on the right track,” says Donna Schendel, Associate Vice President, Human Resources. “Pride is an essential ingredient for a college, not only for its students but for everyone who works within its walls.”

Employers in Alberta are evaluated by the editors of the national competition using the same criteria as Canada’s Top 100 Employers: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

Bow Valley College is receiving recognition as one of Alberta’s Top Employers for employee leadership training, leadership appointments, collaborative strategy sessions, and its Indigenization efforts. State-of-the-art classrooms, virtual reality technology and labs are representative of what can be found in the real-world and help to set the post-secondary experience apart for students, faculty and staff.

Bow Valley College has 17,500 full- and part-time students across eight campuses, including Calgary, Airdrie, Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, High River, Okotoks, and Strathmore. You can find the Calgary campus right next to the City Hall C-Train station in one of our city’s trendiest neighbourhoods, the East Village. College faculty and staff have quick access to nearby amenities like the new Central Library and the Studio Bell National Music Centre. Bow Valley College’s regional campuses are in central locations within their communities, and many of them are helping to revitalize their downtown core.

The convenience of an on-site daycare, a multi-faith room, and subsidized access to a fitness centre are also attractive incentives for employees of the Calgary campus. A quiet place for meditation and relaxation and a cafeteria with healthy and special diet menus are just a couple of additional ways the college is a stand-out in its industry.

About Bow Valley College Calgary and region’s largest College — with 17,500 full- and part-time students, Bow Valley College is a leader in business, health, community studies, creative technologies, adult upgrading, and English Language Learning.
