Hon. Marlin Schmidt, Minister of Advanced Education to visit Bow Valley College to Announce Creative Technology Programs.

The Alberta Minister of Advanced Education, the Hon. Marlin Schmidt, will visit Bow Valley College on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in ATB Hall, Second Floor, South Campus, 345 6 Avenue SE, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. to officially announce the School of Creative Technologies Digital Design Diploma and the Data Management and Analytics Post-Baccalaureate Certificate programs.

He will be joined by President and CEO Laura Jo Gunter in celebrating the launch of two innovative education opportunities that were developed in close collaboration with Alberta industry to reflect current and future demands in the creative technology industry.

“We know there’s a growing need for highly-skilled tech graduates in our province,” said Minister Schmidt. “By developing programs in digital design and data analytics, Bow Valley College is helping to prepare Albertans for exciting, creative careers in our new and diversified economy.”

Graduates will be able to apply practical theory and hands-on knowledge that translate immediately into adaptive, creative and skills in digital, creative and data-driven industries.

Laura Jo Gunter, President of Bow Valley College says the programs were driven by a growing need for graduates to think beyond the conventional by developing value-driven solutions and dynamic teams.

“We hear what employers want from their workforce right now and in the future and Bow Valley College has responded with programs that are meeting their needs,” Gunter states. “Our graduates are ready to take on multi-disciplinary projects in a fast-paced digital age.”

The Digital Design Diploma program focuses on the creative aspects of designing and producing flexible digital and print media, including websites, e-publications, applications, and interactive/multimedia products for public, non-profit, and corporate clients.

The Data Management and Analytics Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is for individuals who have already earned a bachelor’s degree and prepares graduates for data requirements, life cycle, modeling, gathering and interpreting results. They will also know how to manage relational database systems, data warehousing, quality improvement, visual analytics and big data.
