Bow Valley College signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Canadian Energy Research Institute

CALGARY, AB – Bow Valley College and the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) have signed an agreement to create inclusive and sustainable learning and research opportunities for each organization, either jointly or individually.

The agreement will connect Canadian energy leaders and prepare the next generation of industry influencers to enhance community and industry growth. Outreach related to this partnership is intended to engage and better equip Canadian government and businesses focused on energy issues with fact-based information which can allow for more informed decision-making.

This partnership also provides opportunities for learners in full-time programming and continuing learning to network through a series of presentation events hosted at Bow Valley College’s downtown Calgary campus to bring CERI’s research insights to learners, organizations and business leaders.

“CERI is excited to enter into this partnership with Bow Valley College, not only because it further facilitates the distribution of fact-based energy information, but also because it opens the door to future research collaboration opportunities, capacity building and knowledge sharing,” says Allan Fogwill, CERI President and CEO. “As a registered charitable organization, key partnerships like this one provide CERI with another avenue to engage energy professionals, companies and consumers in Alberta and across Canada.”

Dr. Misheck Mwaba, Vice President, Academic at Bow Valley College, believes the opportunity to partner with CERI will encourage even greater collaboration and connectivity between Bow Valley College and energy industry partners and influencers. It also provides increased dialogue and information exchange with corporate leaders looking to enhance and expand corporate training and skills development programs.

“The petroleum industry is looking to satisfy their demand for skilled workers and critical thinkers especially in a time when data analytics, cost control and innovative software are priorities,” Dr. Mwaba says. “This is an opportunity for Bow Valley College to showcase and demonstrate our capabilities to address the needs of the oil and gas sector and to create in-the-field opportunities for our students to learn directly from these leaders.”

Bow Valley College is able to respond to industry needs with in-demand education and training to upskill organizations with industry management training programs and certificates in Petroleum Industry Management, Software Development, Data Management, Analytics Software Development and Digital Marketing. Bow Valley College has also added agile training and IBM Skills Academy Certifications in response to requests from oil and gas leaders.
