Bow Valley College selected as Gold Recipient of the CICan Internationalization Excellence Award

Bow Valley College’s dedication to internationalization was recognized at the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) annual conference on April. 30, 2018 in Victoria, BC.

As the largest comprehensive community college in Alberta, Bow Valley College students come from 142 countries, and speak 128 languages. Collectively, Bow Valley College faculty and staff speak 80 languages.

Bow Valley College is an internationally connected institution, which is apparent in the College’s approach to entrepreneurship and innovation. Each year, the Chiu School of Business hosts VentureQuest, a business idea competition that gives students the chance to innovate, collaborate, and receive the support they need to launch their business plans successfully. VentureQuest has a participation rate of 65 percent among international learners with three of the most recent winners from Romania, Venezuela, and Mexico.

Bow Valley College is one of only three certified members of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) UNEVOC Network in Canada. As part of the UNEVOC network, Bow Valley College contributes institutional expertise and benefits from collaboration with diverse educational practitioners across the world.

The internationalization of Bow Valley College has also resulted in program development for faculty and staff. Bow Valley College management are able to take a certificate program to support the development of intercultural communication skills to enhance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
