Bow Valley College named one of Top 70 Employers in 2017

Continuing to create an exceptional environment for employers to succeed and learners to achieve

CALGARY - Bow Valley College is honoured to be named one of Alberta's Top 70 Employers in 2017. Alberta's Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes Alberta employers that lead their industries in offering extraordinary places to work. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the College has earned this award, and we are very proud to be one of only two Colleges on the list.

"We are so pleased to receive this award for the fourth year in a row. Our leadership understands that for Bow Valley College to be a great place to learn, it also needs to be a great place to work," said Donna Schendel, Director, Human Resources.

"In previous years we've been recognized for our caring culture, reflected in services and ceremonies we provide through our Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre. We are very proud to continue to be recognized for our strong efforts to create a dynamic and nurturing work environment where employees thrive and succeed."

This year the College was selected as one of Alberta's Top Employers for its flexible benefits plan, which allows customizable coverage and provides further support through a health spending account. In addition to three weeks of starting vacation allowance, Bow Valley College employees receive paid time off during the winter holidays and depending on the employee group, can schedule additional time away up to 11 paid personal days.

The College was also recognized for having a number of onsite amenities for employees to take advantage of, such as a quiet room for meditation and relaxation, a cafeteria with healthy and special diet menus, and subsidized access to a fitness facility.

Bow Valley College is located in the heart of Calgary's downtown core, right next to the City Hall C-Train station. Our central campus offers an on-site daycare facility, a multi-faith room, and a cafeteria that has a focus on serving healthy food. The main campus features stunning architecture and design, state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, specialized learning centres, the Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre, over 520 pieces of art, and a fourth-floor patio with roof-top gardens and amazing views of the Calgary skyline.
