Bow Valley College Named one of Alberta's Top 70 Employers in 2016
CALGARY - Bow Valley College (BVC) is honoured to once again be named as one of Alberta's Top 70 Employers in 2016. This is the third consecutive year that BVC has earned this award, and we are very proud to be the only College on the list.
"We are so pleased to receive this award again. Our President and executive team realized that for Bow Valley College to be a great place to learn, it also needed to be a great place to work. Passionate, happy and engaged employees help make this an excellent learning institution, and this award is just another indicator that we're on the right track," said Donna Schendel, Director, Human Resources.
This year the College was singled out for its caring culture, which is reflected in the smudge ceremonies at the Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre, and the President and CEO-led new employee orientation. We also provide a healthy workplace with our LEED Silver certified building, bike storage and shower facilities, and the new Imagine Health Medical Centre.
This distinction is also an acknowledgment of the College's flexible benefits plan, which starts from day one of employment; health spending account; work-life balance; vacation allowance; and maternity leave top-up payments.
BVC is located in the heart of Calgary's downtown core, right next to the City Hall CTrain station. Our central campus offers an on-site daycare facility, a multi-faith room, and a cafeteria that has a focus on serving healthy food. The main campus features stunning architecture and design, state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, specialized learning centres, the Iniikokaan Aboriginal Centre, over 400 pieces of art, and a fourth-floor patio with roof-top gardens and amazing views of the Calgary skyline.
Now in its tenth year, Alberta's Top 70 Employers is an annual competition that recognizes Alberta employers that lead their industries in offering extraordinary places to work.
