Discover learning opportunities in the Bow Valley
CANMORE – All Banff / Canmore media are invited to learn more this week about educational opportunities in the region during Bow Valley College’s Adult Education Week, Sept. 20-24.
The College’s Canmore campus will open its doors Monday-Friday to showcase its many programs and services, while Bow Valley College’s Banff campus will hold a number of special events on Tuesday, Sept. 21. Media might be particularly interested in attending the following sessions, which will take place at Canmore’s Provincial Building, 800 Railway Avenue:
Practical Nurse Diploma
An innovative new blended Practical Nurse program is coming to Canmore and Banff. Learners will complete their courses online, via video conferencing, and in-person in Calgary and Canmore.
When: Wed. Sept. 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Everything you need to know about online learning
With a growing demand for more online learning options in smaller communities, a Bow Valley College expert in online learning will answer Canmore and Banff residents’ questions about online learning.
When: Tues. Sept. 21, 7-8 p.m.
Spokesperson: Russ Wilde, Director of Learning Resource Services
Résumé Writing Workshop
The College’s student employment service, BVCWorks will provide a hands-on workshop, helping Canmore and Banff residents develop an effective résumé.
When: Mon. Sept. 20th, 12:05-1 p.m.
Spokespeople: Arlayna Alcock, Career Advisor, BVCWorks; and Jill Harrison, Work Experience Officer, Canmore
Occupational Skills Training Program
This information session will showcase one of the College’s most popular programs in Canmore. Funded by the Government of Alberta, this program prepares people for work in an office setting by improving their keyboarding. administrative, and communication skills.
When: Tues. Sept 21, 10-11am.
Spokesperson: Jane Neil, Program Coordinator for Bow Valley College
Spokespeople will be available for comment at their respective sessions. In some cases, there will also be an opportunity to interview participants. Contact Curtis Christian to interview spokespeople outside of their scheduled session.
