When is New Student Orientation?

All programs that start on January 8th, 2018 will have New Student Orientation on January 4th, 2018.

How do I register for new student orientation?

You can register online at MyBVC. If you have not already created an account, you will find your username and a link to create a password in your acceptance email. Do not have your username or password? Click “I forgot my password” on the login page and follow the instructions, or call the Help Desk at 403-410-1611.

Where do I check-in on New Student Orientation day?

Morning check-in will be held at the main downtown Calgary campus, in both North Campus and South Campus. Look for signs and volunteers directing you where to check in.

You should bring:

  • Book bag
  • Pen or pencil and a notepad
  • Your student ID card if you already have one
  • Money if you want to purchase textbooks, pay outstanding fees, or buy a snack
  • Government-issued photo ID if you plan on getting your student ID card

You do not need to bring a lunch as it is provided by the Students' Association.

What if I can not attend?

Please call 403-410-1400 and ask to speak to the admissions officer for your program. If you have program-specific questions, please contact your program representative directly. A list of representatives can be found here.

When and where can I get my student ID card?

The Registrar's Office is located on the first floor of South Campus. It is open on Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on from Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Remember to bring government-issued photo identification. Student ID cards are free and are required on campus at all times.

When will I receive my timetable?

Some timetables are available on myBVC.ca. Click on the date for the first day of class: August 30, 2016. You will see your classes and schedule if it is available. Otherwise, your timetable will be given to you during the New Student Orientation breakout sessions. If you have questions, please contact Student Advising Services at 403-410-3456 or visit us on the first floor of the South Campus.

For timetable issues with High School Upgrading courses, you can make changes in person at the Registrar's Office or by phone at 403-410-1400. Print your timetable (you will find it on myBVC.ca) beforehand.

How and where do I get a locker?

Locker rental forms are available online and can be completed by debit card, credit card, prepaid credit card, and online debit. Lockers are available on a first come, first serve basis (one locker per person). Please note that lockers will be required to be emptied for cleaning at the end of the semesters. Lockers are available in both North Campus (first to seventh floor) and South Campus (third to fifth floor).

Where can I buy my textbooks?

Buy your textbooks at the Bookstore (South Campus, first floor), which is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Where is the library and when is it open?

The RGO Library and Learning Commons is located on the first and second floors of North Campus. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where can I get computer support?

Drop by the second floor of the RGO Library and Learning Commons, located in North Campus, for help with connecting your phone or computer to our wireless Internet, accessing and using MyBVC and D2L, and the Student Awards Portal. Help is available during most regular library hours.

How do I book a counselling or accessibility services appointment?

Counselling Services are available to help with personal, emotional, or interpersonal problems that might affect your success at Bow Valley College. Call 403-410-1440 or email counselling@bowvalleycollege.ca.

Accessibility Services offers support to all Bow Valley College students, including those with diverse needs and disabilities. Call 403-410-1440 or email accessibility@bowvalleycollege.ca.

Counselling and Accessibility Services are located in Learner Success Services at the Calgary campus (South Campus, first floor).

How do I find a tutor?

Reboot is a free tutoring service for all Bow Valley College students. Stop by the Tutorial Centre (Room N266, North Campus) on Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Peer tutoring is also available to all students. Book an appointment and meet your tutor in the Tutorial Centre (Room N266, North Campus). Your department may also offer tutoring services, so please check with your instructor or coordinator.

How do I pay my fees?

You can pay online by logging into your myBVC.ca account and clicking “Online registration,” then select “Make a payment.” Pay by phone by calling the Registrar's Office at 403-410-1400 and have your credit card number ready. Or pay in person at the Registrar's Office, which is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The deadline to pay tuition is August 29, 2016.

I have a question about my student loan. Who should I contact?

Book an appointment with a financial aid advisor at the Learner Success Services office, located at the Calgary campus (South Campus, first floor). Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or call 403-410-1440.

Where do I go to find out about awards?

Check the Awards Portal to see if you qualify for Entrance Awards. Use your myBVC.ca login to access the awards portal and apply for bursaries and scholarships before you start school. Review the deadline dates and selection criteria first, then complete the online application.
