How do I register for new student orientation?

If you are a new student staring classes on September 1, 2020, you may have received an invitation email to attend a virtual live New Student Orientation on August 27th. Check your myBVC email to register. 

If you have not already created an account, you will find your username and a link to create a password in your acceptance email. Do not have your username or password? Click “I forgot my password” on the login page and follow the instructions, or contact the Help Desk for assistance at helpdesk@bowvalleycollege.ca or call 1-866-615-8923 toll free.

What should I do to join the virtual Live New Student Orientation (NSO)?

You will be able to find everything you need to access the virtual live NSO event on August 27, 2020 in the Registration Confirmation email you will receive upon registration.

The event will include:

  • Welcome Orientation
  • Keynote
  • Alumni & Student Panel
  • Program Breakout Session
  • Student Service Expo
  • Student Social Hour

What if I can not attend the live event?

Online Orientation is a great digital resource and support available for you 24/7 and can be accessed through D2L under My Success Hub. It provides orientation information and content in detail including the recordings of the live event.

Where do I go if I need help with anything as I start school? 

Being a new student can be overwhelming and you may have a lot of questions. Our Learner Success Advisors can answer your questions and work with you to create an individualized success plan that could help you with transitioning. Book an appointment with an advisor here or email success@bowvalleycollege.ca.

When and where can I get my student ID card?

The College is going to be issuing and emailing learners a temporary PDF copy of their Student ID without a picture upon request, as we are unable to create physical cards due to the COVID-19 disruption. If you wish to request a copy of your temporary Student ID, please email registrar@bowvalleycollege.ca. Once the campus reopens, you will be able to come and get a physical card.

When will I receive my timetable?

Some timetables are available on myBVC.ca. Click on the date for the first day of class: September 1, 2020. You will see your classes and schedule if available. If you have questions, please contact Academic Advising Services at 403-410-3456 or advising@bowvalleycollege.ca.

How do I book an appointment with a Counsellor or Accessibility Advisor?

Counselling Services are available to help with personal, emotional, or interpersonal problems that might affect your success at Bow Valley College. Call 403-410-1440 or email counselling@bowvalleycollege.ca.

Accessibility Advisors provide support to Bow Valley College students with disabilities. If you have a disability, or if you think that you have a disability, Accessibility Advisors can help with academic accommodations, referrals for assessments, and grant funding applications. Book an appointment through the Accessibility Portal.

How do I find a tutor?

The Academic Success Centre offers a number of free services (e.g. peer tutoring, learning coaching) that can help you succeed in your classes. For details, click here.

Your department may also offer tutoring services, so please check with your instructor(s) or program chair.

How do I pay my fees?

You can pay online through your myBVC.ca account. Log into your account and click “Registration” then select “Make a payment.” You may also pay through your financial institution’s online banking. To learn more, click here.

Where do I go to find out about awards?

Visit the Awards Portal to learn about available internal scholarship/award opportunities. Use your myBVC.ca login to access the awards portal and apply for bursaries and scholarships before you start school. Review the deadline dates and selection criteria first, then complete the online application. Also, click here to see if you qualify for Entrance Awards.
