When is New Student Orientation?

Some programs that start on May 4, 2020 will have New Student Orientation on April 29, 2020

How do I register for new student orientation?

If you are a new student staring classes on May 4th, 2020, you may have received an invitation email to attend an ONLINE New Student Orientation on April 29th. Check your myBVC email to register. 

If you have not already created an account, you will find your username and a link to create a password in your acceptance email. Do not have your username or password? Click “I forgot my password” on the login page and follow the instructions, or call the Help Desk at 403-410-1611.

 
What should I do to join the virtual Live New Student Orientation (NSO)?

You will receive an email closer to the NSO day with the Microsoft Teams link to join the virtual Live NSO session on April 29th.  

The session will include:

  • Welcome orientation
  • Keynote
  • Alumni & Student Panel
  • Program breakout session

What if I can not attend the live event?

A great place to learn about Bow Valley College as a new student is in our Online NSO course in D2L Brightspace. Login to your D2L account and self-register for the course. Click here to learn how to self-register. If you have program-specific questions, please contact your program representatives directly. A list of representatives can be found here.

When and where can I get my student ID card?

The College is going to be issuing and emailing learners a temporary PDF copy of their Student ID without a picture upon request, as we are unable to create physical cards due to the COVID-19 disruption. If you wish to request a copy of your temporary Student ID, please email registrar@bowvalleycollege.ca . Once the campus reopens, you will be able to come and get a physical card. 

When will I receive my timetable?

Some timetables are available on myBVC.ca. Click on the date for the first day of class: May 4, 2020. You will see your classes and schedule if available. If you have questions, please contact Academic Advising Services at 403-410-3456 or advising@bowvalleycollege.ca.

For timetable issues with High School Upgrading courses, you can make changes at the Registrar's Office. Print your timetable (you will find it on myBVC.ca) beforehand.

How and where do I get a locker?

Locker rental is not available for the Spring 2020 term. 

Where can I buy my textbooks?

You can order your textbooks online at the Bookstore

Where is the library and when is it open?

The RGO Library and Learning Commons is currently helping students virtually. They are open Monday to Sunday. Find hours of operation here.

For help with your myBVC username and password and Microsoft Teams, email helpdesk@bowvalleycollege.ca or call 403-410-1611.

How do I book a counselling or accessibility services appointment?

Counselling Services are available to help with personal, emotional, or interpersonal problems that might affect your success at Bow Valley College. Call 403-410-1440 or email counselling@bowvalleycollege.ca.

Accessibility Services offers support to all Bow Valley College students, including those with diverse needs and disabilities. Book an appointment with an Accessibility Advisor through the Accessibility Portal.

 
How do I find a tutor?

The Academic Success Centre offers a number of free services (e.g. peer tutoring, learning coaching) that can help you succeed in your classes. For details, click here.

Your department may also offer tutoring services, so please check with your instructor(s) or program chair.

How do I pay my fees?

You can pay online by logging into your myBVC.ca account and clicking “Registration” then select “Make a payment.” You may also pay through your financial institution’s online banking. To learn more, click here.

Where do I go to find out about awards?

Visit the Awards Portal to learn about available internal scholarship/award opportunities. Use your myBVC.ca login to access the awards portal and apply for bursaries and scholarships before you start school. Review the deadline dates and selection criteria first, then complete the online application. Also, click here to see if you qualify for Entrance Awards.
