Removing barriers for internationally trained nurses with a $9.5 million grant

January 2024 was off to a tremendous start with news that Bow Valley College received a $9.5 million grant from the Government of Canada to support Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs).

The Employment and Social Development Canada investment in the Foreign Credential Recognition program was developed in collaboration with Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council (CRIEC).

Bow Valley College’s Competency-Based Canadian Nurse Bridging program will use Pivot-Ed micro-credentials to upskill more than 250 IENs, helping them effectively integrate into the Canadian healthcare workforce.

The first cohort of participants began this year and is on track to complete the program by the end of January 2025.
