ELIGIBILITY: To enter and to be eligible to win, the Contest is open only to legal residents of Canada (excluding residents of Quebec) who have reached the age of majority according to the law of the province in which they reside.
Excluded from eligibility are officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents and representatives of Bow Valley College (collectively, the "Excluded Individuals"). Immediate family members of the Excluded Individuals are not eligible to participate in the Contest. For the purposes of these Rules (as defined below), "immediate family" means spouses, parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses, regardless of whether they reside in the same household. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER THE CONTEST.
The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
ACCEPTANCE OF RULES: Participation in the Contest constitutes an entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Contest Rules (the "Rules"), as may be amended by Bow Valley College at its sole discretion. Winning the Prize (as defined below) is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest commences at 10:00 a.m. (MDT) on October 17, 2020 and, subject to these Rules, will conclude at 2:00 p.m. (MDT) on October 17, 2020 (the "Contest Period").
PARTICIPATION: To enter the Contest, each entrant must attend the event and gather points through participatory activities.
Each entrant will, subject to paragraph 3 below, serve as an entry in the Contest.
An entrant may only complete and submit one (1) entry. For the avoidance of doubt, there is a limit of one (1) entry per person. Incomplete entries or entries received after the expiry of the applicable Contest Period will be considered null and void and ineligible to win any prize. All other entries will, subject to the Rules, be eligible (“Entries”).
SELECTION OF WINNER: Entrants will be asked to provide a name and email address. At the end of the Contest Period Bow Valley College will determine the winner(s) based on highest number of points collected October 19, 2020. The winner will be notified by email or telephone number supplied upon entry.
The selected entrant of the Prize will be contacted by e-mail (using the e-mail address provided in their survey) on or about November 2, 2020. This individual(s) will have seventy-two (72) hours to respond. Entrants are solely responsible for monitoring their own email accounts and/or voicemail for notification.
If the selected entrant cannot be contacted or fails to respond to any attempted notification by or on behalf of Bow Valley College within the applicable time period, said individual will be disqualified, his/her Entry will be declared null and void, and Bow Valley College may, in its sole and absolute discretion, select another entrant by drawing another name at random from the Entries. In order to be declared the “Winner” and receive the Prize, the selected entrant must: (i) correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question; (ii) provide a scan or photocopy of a valid government issued driver’s license to Bow Valley College to confirm that individual’s identity; and (iii) sign and promptly return to Bow Valley College (or its agents) a declaration, consent, and/or a waiver and release in a form acceptable to Bow Valley College and executed by the selected entrant.
Bow Valley College (BVC) will waive the cost of the Winner’s first academic term of tuition in a BVC post-secondary credit program, to a maximum of 15 credit hours of tuition costs. The waiver will be valid for only the first term of the winner’s program and any unused amount is forfeited by the winner (i.e. if the winner registers in nine credit hours for their first term, they cannot carry over the remaining six credit hours’ value). The program may be taken at any BVC campus or online. Programs not offered directly by BVC (such as contracted or brokered programs delivered at other institutions) are not eligible. Two (2) prizes will be awarded.
The Winner will win one (1) prizes of:
- Tuition scholarship valued at $1000.00 CAD. That can be applied to any Bow Valley College program or course of choice.
- Tuition scholarship valued at $500.00 CAD. That can be applied to any Bow Valley College program or course of choice.
ODDS: The odds of winning the Prize will depend upon the total number of entrants and participation levels during the Contest Period.
TERMS OF ACCEPTANCE: Each Prize must be accepted as awarded. No prize substitution, assignment or transfer of prizes is permitted, except: (i) as otherwise explicitly provided herein; or (ii) at Bow Valley College sole discretion. Bow Valley College reserves the right to substitute the Prize with one of comparable value or greater value without liability or consent. All costs and expenses not specifically included above as part of any prize, including, without limitation, any applicable taxes, are the sole responsibility of the Winner.
The selected entrant must apply for a program at Bow Valley College prior to or by Fall 2021 intake for the tuition to be applied to the Winner’s first academic term of tuition in a BVC post-secondary credit program, to a maximum of 15 credit hours of tuition costs. If the Winners application is unsuccessful, Bow Valley College holds the right to withdraw the tuition prize and the Winner will be disqualified, his/her Entry will be declared null and void, and Bow Valley College may, in its sole and absolute discretion not proceed with granting the tuition prize.

By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the use of their personal information for such purposes. Any attempt by an entrant or other individual to automate the entry process, or otherwise, undermine the legitimate administration, security or operation of the Contest, is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Bow Valley College reserves the right to seek remedies and damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Entrants engaging in any of the foregoing activities may be disqualified and may accordingly forfeit any Prizes won. The decisions of Bow Valley College in regards to all matters of the Contest are final and binding upon entrants. In the event of any dispute regarding the interpretation of the rules of the Contest or any decision rendered by Bow Valley College, the decision or interpretation of Bow Valley College shall prevail. All entrants must comply with applicable laws. Any entry that is illegible, incomplete, altered, or contains false information, is invalid. Each Entrant acknowledges that Bow Valley College, and all involved advertising and promotional agencies, or anyone else involved in the development or execution of this Contest, each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and each of their respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the "Releasees") have not made, nor are in any manner responsible, for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the Prize, including but not limited to, its quality, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Further, no responsibilities are accepted by any of the Releasees for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, or acts of any government or authority.
ADDITIONAL TERMS (2):
a. By accepting the Prize, the Winner holds harmless and indemnifies BVC, its employees, board, and third-party service providers of all liability related to the awarding and use of the Prize.
b. Should the Winner, before or within their first academic term, fail to qualify for admission, fail to confirm their enrolment, withdraw from courses, discontinue study, fail to attend, or otherwise not start their post-secondary program, except for an exceptional medical or compassionate reason approved by the Registrar, the Winner shall forfeit the Prize.
c. The Prize must be accepted as defined above. It is not available as a cash sum nor as a refund from the learner’s account. The Prize cannot be transferred to another academic term, program, or post-secondary institution.
d. BVC retains the right to disqualify individual entrants if, in BVC’s sole opinion, the entrant is suspected of attempting to manipulate the drawing or unfairly increase their chances of winning.
e. Offerings which are not post-secondary credit programs, such as English language learning, academic upgrading, continuing education, course audit, and Open Studies are not eligible for this drawing.
f. The odds of winning depend on the number of inquiry cards and corresponding applications for admission received.
g. BVC is not liable for lost, misplaced, damaged, or incorrectly entered inquiry cards or applications for admission. BVC encourages each prospective learner to ensure their inquiry card and application for admission are clearly and consistently completed and submitted to reduce any ambiguity when attempting to match the details from an inquiry card with the details from an application for admission for the purposes of qualifying for this promotion.
