Exciting news about our esports arena
We have an exciting update on the progress Bow Valley College is making on its new esports arena.
Construction is well underway on the second floor of our South Campus, and we expect to open with a VIP event in just a few months.
We can’t wait to share the finished space with the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund, Calgary Economic Development, the City of Calgary, the gaming community, our students, employees, and alumni.
In the meantime, we are thrilled to share a few renderings representing what our esports arena will look like.
The esports arena is one component of Bow Valley College’s Digital Entertainment Nexus, formerly the Calgary Entertainment Arts Production Hub.
Please watch for more updates in the coming weeks.
If you would like to do interviews or schedule a time to get photos/b-roll of the construction, please reach out.
Additional news:
Last November, we started our journey into the wonderful world of esports and game development. We are thrilled to launch phase one: the accelerators!
There are two streams – Game Development and Esports Business – which companies can now sign up to take part in for the inaugural cohort.
We are looking for 30 companies in the Fall of 2024 and an additional 30 companies for the Winter of 2025, when a third stream, Film and Animation, will be added.
Our free accelerator programs offer a unique blend of educational sessions, one-on-one mentorship, hands-on workshops, pitch opportunities, and potential game development project funding. By keeping cohort sizes small, we ensure personalized attention and tailored support for each team, maximizing their potential for success.
Game Development: This Game Development stream is designed to fast-track the growth and success of aspiring indie video game developers.
