Bow Valley College becomes the first Canadian hub for the IBM Skills Academy
Bow Valley College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IBM, establishing Bow Valley College as the first Canadian hub for the IBM Skills Academy.
The IBM Skills Academy is a new academic professional technical certification program that will prepare students for careers in the IT industry and build local capability consistent with international standards.
IBM will train Bow Valley College faculty to enable them to train students across several career tracks such as business intelligence, cyber security, and cloud computing. This program presents an opportunity for individuals looking to upskill or increase their knowledge of big data and advanced analytics, integrated security, and mobile application development.
“Our collaboration with IBM will equip Bow Valley College learners with in-demand skills to meet the changing needs of the IT industry while maintaining an academic approach of teaching,” says Dr. Misheck Mwaba, Vice President, Academic.
“With this collaboration Bow Valley College will be well positioned to support the retraining and upskilling of individuals, which will contribute to the development of Alberta and Canada’s IT talent quickly and cost effectively.”
The agreement has an initial term of three years, commencing on March 31, 2018.
