Dr. Rupinder Toor receives Sharon Carry Community Leadership Award
“We need to invest in women. Educating women is the key to helping families and communities thrive,” says Rupinder, who, since medical school, has been an advocate for women’s health and shares her passion in these areas with students, health care professionals, and her community. Her Calgary Women’s Clinic and The IUD Clinic have served more than 50,000 women over the past 11 years.
In 2009, Rupinder established a student award at Bow Valley College for recent immigrants who may face barriers to entering the workforce. She also volunteers to speak to students in the Practical Nurse program about women’s health.
The Sharon Carry Community Leadership Award was established in 2017 to honour the extraordinary leadership of long-time Bow Valley College President and CEO, Sharon Carry, who retired in 2016. Nominees are selected on the basis of their support for Bow Valley College, their leadership, and their impact on education and the community.
The Sharon Carry Community Leadership Award was presented to Dr. Toor at Bow Valley College’s Celebrating Student Futures event on May 22, 2019.
To Dr. Rupinder Toor, we say thank you for your leadership in our community, and your contributions to education and Bow Valley College.
