Open Studies Regional – Spring/Summer 2021

Program Description
This Open Studies program will provide regional learners access to a selection of Bow Valley College post-secondary credit courses without requiring admission or commitment to one of the College's post-secondary programs. The courses offered align with programs as follows:
Business:
MKTG1101 – Introduction to Marketing
Community Studies:
ENGL1201 – English Composition
PSYC1101 – Introduction to Psychology

Delivery Method (Due to COVID-19, all classes will be delivered online until further notice)

Administrative Professional Certificate (2-Term Program) – Fall 2021

Program Description
Get the skills and knowledge to take on many responsibilities in an office. Learn software applications, keyboarding, administrative procedures, and communication. The Administrative Professional Certificate is a two-term program with five courses per term.
Delivery Method (Due to COVID-19, all classes will be delivered online until further notice)
The Administrative Professional Certificate program in Okotoks is delivered through a mixed delivery mode where learning activities take place through a blend of scheduled in-class and scheduled or non-scheduled online delivery methods. Learners ARE REQUIRED to participate in scheduled learning activities. Scheduled exams may be required.

Early Childhood Education & Development Diploma (4-Term Program) – Fall 2021
Early Childhood Education & Development Certificate (3-Term Program) – Winter 2022

Program Description
You can make a difference in the lives of children, families, and communities. The Early Childhood Education and Development Certificate program and the Early Childhood Education and Development Diploma program prepare you to provide quality child care in a wide variety of settings and plan emergent play experiences for the children in your care. Programs combines theory and practice to help you gain knowledge of child development, family dynamics, play, and program planning that will equip you to support the healthy development of children through child-centred learning experiences.
Please note that the Certificate program is also the first year of the Diploma program.
Graduates of the Certificate program are eligible for Child Development Worker certification from Alberta Human Services while graduates of the Diploma program are eligible for Child Development Supervisor certification.

The delivery method for the program in Okotoks is through a mixed delivery mode where learning activities take place through a blend of scheduled in-class and scheduled or non-scheduled online delivery methods. Learners ARE REQUIRED to participate in scheduled learning activities. Scheduled exams may be required.
Practicums will be held at accessible regional licensed child care facilities approved by the Program Chair.

Practical Nurse Diploma (5-Term Program) – Fall 2021

Program Description
There are many opportunities to use skills as a Practical Nurse, including child care, maternity nursing, community health, mental wellness, seniors care, and medicine. The Practical Nurse Diploma program is a recognized and popular program for prospective health care providers.
Delivery Method (Due to COVID-19, all classes will be delivered online until further notice)
The Practical Nurse Diploma program in Okotoks is Courses are delivered through a mixed delivery mode where learning activities take place through a blend of scheduled in-class and scheduled or non-scheduled online delivery methods. Learners ARE REQUIRED to participate in scheduled learning activities. Scheduled exams may be required
On-campus labs will be held at our Main Campus, located in Downtown Calgary.
Clinical placement will occur in continuing care, acute care, and community/home care settings.

Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Testing

Bow Valley College partners with ILVARC and the Government of Canada to offer Canadian Language Benchmark placement testing (CLBPT) at the High River Campus.

Exam Proctoring  **Due to COVID-19, all exam proctoring is currently on hold**

We offer exam proctoring/invigilation for individuals taking distance education courses through other post-secondary institutions or learning organizations.
Exams may only be written from Monday to Friday, starting at 9:00 am or at 1:00 pm and finishing by 4:30 pm, based on campus availability.
Each exam writer will be charged an invigilation fee of $70 + GST per exam, as well as any additional costs incurred (printing, postage, etc.), to be paid on the day of the exam before exam writing begins.

Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) for Health Care Providers
Learn how to save lives with this course that is required/recommended by many employers and for many health care program clinical placements.
A blended learning delivery method allows you to complete your online learning at home, followed by your hands-on skills practice and evaluation at the High River Campus. 

BLS 120 (full): $115.00 + GST
