Employee Edge Business & Computer Training

In today’s job market, the deciding factor for employers often comes down to a candidates’ ideal mix of technical and soft skills. Take one or all of the courses and workshops below…and get the EDGE.

All courses are offered at the Canmore campus through a blend of scheduled in-class and online delivery methods. Registration closes 24-48 hours before the course starts, or sooner if the course is full. Register for each course individually using the links below and choose the Canmore location to secure your seat. You can also register by visiting our Canmore Campus.

Courses may be used toward several Bow Valley College Continuing Education Certificates.

English 1201 - English Composition (Spring/Summer 2020)

This is a required course for many Bow Valley College career programs as well as university transfer.

Early Childhood Education & Development Certificate – Fall 2020, Canmore Campus (application open date pending)

Program Description
You can make a difference in the lives of children, families, and communities. The 1 year (3 term) Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) Certificate program prepares you to provide quality child care in a wide variety of settings and plan emergent play experiences for the children in your care. You will gain knowledge of child development, family dynamics, play, and program planning that will equip you to support the healthy development of children through child-center learning experiences.

Delivery options
The ECED Certificate program in Canmore is offered during the evenings and weekends in a traditional classroom setting with an onsite instructor, plus a weekly online course.
This program combines theory and practice and graduates are eligible for Child Development Worker certification from Alberta Human Services (Formerly Level II).
Please note that this certificate is also the first year of the Early Childhood & Education Diploma (formerly Level III).

Applications for this program must be submitted in-person to the Canmore campus.

GED Preparation

Get the skills to challenge the official GED tests. When you pass these tests, you will earn a High School Equivalency Diploma. GED Prep is offered in a classroom at the Canmore campus, and the GED official exams are written at the downtown Calgary campus.

Upgrading Programs

High School-FlexClass instructors work one-on-one with students to help with questions. Flexible hours allow you to create your own timetable. FlexClass is suited to those who work and have time restrictions. You learn at your own pace, plus you have access to computers, technology and instructors. You
must attend five hours per week per course.

The following subjects are available at the Canmore campus:
Aboriginal Studies, Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Physics, Science and Social Studies.

Canadian Language Benchmark Testing

Bow Valley College partners with ILVARC and the Government of Canada to offer Canadian Language Benchmark placement testing (CLBPT) at the Banff campus.
