Getting started is easy. We’ll conduct a training needs assessment and develop recommendations on how to embed essential skills training into your program. We’ll then give you the training and instructional tools you need to use the integrated model within your organization.

Partner Roles
Partner organizations will participate in piloting activities, including:

  • Attending a 2-day professional development workshop for instructors
  • Assessing and identifying at-risk learners
  • Delivering 20-30 hours of instructor-led essential skills upskilling to a few cohorts of learners
  • Collecting data and providing feedback

Partnership provides an opportunity for institutions to build capacity to improve essential skills while contributing to a national initiative aimed at strengthening the apprenticeship system. Partner organizations will also benefit from:

  • Free professional development for instructor(s)
  • Travel reimbursement for instructor training
  • Free essential skills assessments and instructional materials
  • Customized implementation plan outlining how to integrate essential skills into apprenticeship programs
  • Access to ongoing mentorship and instructional supports
  • Access to project data and findings specific to your institution and learners
  • Opportunities to participate in national events and stakeholder discussions

  • If you are currently studying in a post-secondary program at BVC, please register for your courses via mybvc to ensure your enrolments and fees are processed appropriately.

  • If you anticipate applying for a student loan, your payment will be refunded to you based on your loan award once your funding has been received by BVC.
