Bow Valley College LINC program update

On Monday, Bow Valley College announced that Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programming will not continue after the end of the current term in April.

The difficult decision was made after Bow Valley College was informed by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) of significantly reduced funding for the program. The changes also removed funding for higher proficiency levels of language instruction.

There are approximately 1,300 LINC students enrolled in the current term. This will also impact employee positions that support the LINC program and its students.

The LINC program and our employees have made a difference in the lives of many newcomers over the years. This is difficult news that will fundamentally change our college community.

We are working to determine the full scope of these changes over the coming weeks. The college will not comment further on this until that process is complete.

Vaughn Ravenscroft, Acting President & CEO, Bow Valley College
