Bow Valley College Launches New Strathmore Campus to Ignite Local Innovation, Learning, and Collaboration

CALGARY, AB – Bow Valley College’s commitment to flexible, locally sourced learning is reflected in the new Strathmore Campus. The new 4,500 square foot learning hub offers career programming, academic upgrading, essential skills training, and an Entrepreneur Centre for local entrepreneurs. The campus will serve Strathmore, Chestermere, Siksika Nation, and surrounding communities.

The inauguration of the Bow Valley College Strathmore Campus will take place on Tuesday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. Alberta Minister of Advanced Education, Honourable Marlin Schmidt, Mayor of Strathmore, Pat Fule, and Bow Valley College Executive team, including President and CEO, Laura Jo Gunter will join Strathmore Campus employees and learners to officially launch the campus.

The Strathmore Campus is one of seven Bow Valley College campuses in Southern Alberta providing learning opportunities that are geared towards meeting the distinct needs of local communities.

“By offering post-secondary education and entrepreneurship training at the Strathmore Campus, Bow Valley College has expanded beyond the classroom and into the business environment and community at large,” says Dr. Misheck Mwaba, Vice President, Academic. “In a competitive economy, we are seeing professionals return to school to upskill or pivot careers. We’re able to nurture this need by offering courses, programs, and globally recognized certifications that give them practical and theoretical skills that can produce results now and in the future.”

Bow Valley College was able to expand its reach in Strathmore due to a federal grant of $393,000 from the Post-Secondary Institutions Strategic Investment Fund. To find out more about the Bow Valley College Strathmore Campus, please visit bowvalleycollege.ca/Strathmore.
