BVC board reappoints 25-year Canmore resident Larry Bohn
CALGARY — The Bow Valley Corridor continues to be well represented on Bow Valley College's (BVC) Board of Governors with the reappointment of Larry Bohn as a public member.
President and chief executive officer of Bow Valley Credit Union, Bohn brings to BVC's board a perspective that reflects the education needs of communities across southern Alberta.
"Larry advocates for increased access to post-secondary education and he understands the important role Bow Valley College will play in meeting the education needs of the 1.3 million Albertans our College serves," says Joanne Stalinski, Chair of BVC's Board of Governors.
Bohn has been a proud member of the Canmore community for the past 30 years and has more than 35 years of senior management experience in the region's credit union system.
During that time, Larry has represented his industry on several national issues and task forces, including the Western Canada Insurance Advisory Committee and currently as a member of the Alberta Credit Union Executive Management Committee.
"He complements our board with his business acumen and ability to foresee the province's ever-changing labour market, helping to ensure our programs and services extend into the communities that need them most," says Stalinski. "I can't think of a better person to represent the education and training needs of southern Alberta, including Cochrane, Canmore, Banff, and Airdrie."
Since joining BVC's Board of Governors in February of 2009, Bohn has served as chair of its Audit and Risk Management Council and vice-chair of its Community Relations Council.
Bohn was appointed to the board and, as of February 2012, is embarking on his second term that extends until 2015.
