Calgarians from all walks of life gathered together to help shape the future of Bow Valley College on May 12, 2011, through an extraordinary and exhilarating community engagement event called Vision 2020.

On that "One Day in May," more than 1,500 of the College's staff, faculty, students, and donors, as well as community visionaries, government officials, business leaders, and the general public shared their vision for Bow Valley College at its best in the year 2020. Additional consultations with another 700 internal and external stakeholders put the total number of Vision 2020 participants to just over 2,020.

Vision 2020 was one of the largest community-based appreciative inquiry initiatives ever held by a post-secondary institution in Canada. The dreams, hopes, and expectations shared through this profoundly transformative process will serve as the foundation for the College's strategic planning. By first engaging and then listening to the voices of the community, Bow Valley College has created genuine excitement for its future and has ensured that it will meet the needs of the many diverse communities it serves as Calgary and region's only comprehensive community college.

The following video features Sharon Carry, Bow Valley College President and CEO, and Naheed Nenshi, Mayor of the City of Calgary, talking about the scope and importance of Vision 2020 to a group of participants:
