Course Description

Creative writing is an indispensable skill in today’s communication-rich world which utilizes storytelling in many ways, whether to delve into imaginary worlds, tell a personal success story, or write a family history. In this course, learners explore the elements of storytelling through instruction and discussion, practice various approaches with writing exercises, overcome writing hesitancy, and develop critiquing abilities. Each session includes instruction and discussion on an aspect of creative writing, writing time, and story workshopping. Early in the course, students choose one of three approaches: fiction, non-fiction, or auto-fiction. Learners submit pieces of writing and receive feedback from the instructor.

Please note this course takes place at the Okotoks campus.
