ACE TESOL Certificate

The ACE TESOL Certificate course is specifically designed to provide participants with the tools, strategies, skills and knowledge to be successful at teaching adults in English language programs either in Canada or abroad.  It is recognized by TESL Canada for TESL Canada Professional Certification Standard One. ACE provides a strong focus on practical teaching skills and bases its coursework upon the most current teaching theory and methodologies.  Course participants will improve communication and presentation skills and will increase self-confidence in their teaching abilities.

 FALL 2017:

ACE TESOL 1: TELL 9101: September 5 to November 2, T/Th 6:00 to 9:15 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am to 4:15 pm

ACE TESOL 2: TELL 9999: Observation and Teaching (20 hours) November 6 to December 1 (schedule to be provided upon registration)

ACE TESOL 3: TELL 9998: Observation and Teaching Assistance (10 hours) November 6 to December 1 (schedule to be provided upon registration)

Additional Notes:

After completing their coursework, participants can choose between 20 hour and 10 hour practicum options.  TESL Canada Certification is only granted to those who have completed the 20 hour practicum.


Admission Requirements

Applicants must have a university degree* and must also provide evidence of English language proficiency through one of the following:

iBT

Overall 101 with a minimum of 23 in Listening, 24 in Reading, 27 in Speaking and 27 in Writing

IELTS Academic

7 overall with a minimum score of 7 in each skill area

or High school graduation from a high school in Canada , including minimum English Grade 12 score of 70%

or Completion of an undergraduate degree from a university where English is the language of instruction and administration (as per TESL Canada Standards)

*Please note: Applicants without a university degree can be accepted into the ACE TESOL course, but would not be eligible for TESL Canada certification until a university degree is also completed.
