Part-time LINC

These part-time classes are for learners who want to study in LINC classes while maintaining work and family commitments.  They focus on improving listening and speaking or reading and writing through exploration of settlement-related topics.

Learners will develop English language skills for daily life and work through topics such as workplace, community, culture, healthy living, travel and transportation and leisure.

Learners can choose from:

  • Listening and Speaking (morning classes)
  • Listening and Speaking (evening classes)
  • Reading and Writing (morning classes)
  • Reading and Writing (evening classes)

These classes are offered from CLB 4 to CLB 7. Initial placement is based on Canadian Language Benchmarks. Learners in higher level courses may qualify for English for Academic Purpose (EAP).


  • 18 years old or older
  • Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees

Admission Requirements:

  • Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test results or LINC certificate from a LINC program
  • Minimum CLB 3 in listening/speaking or reading/writing
  • 10 or more years of education
  • LINC applicants must first take a Canadian Language Benchmarks test at the Immigrant and Vocational Assessment Referral Centre (ILVARC). The telephone number for ILVARC is 403-262-2656.
