Application Steps

    Step 1: Choose your program of study

    Visit our Programs and Courses page to find out more about the program you are interested in. Each program page contains important admissions information, such as:

    • General program information
    • Admission requirements
    • English Language Proficiency requirements
    • Start date(s) and program length
    • Approximate costs

     Step 2: Submit your application

     Select the type of program you wish to take in order to be directed to the appropriate application:

    * International applicants are encouraged to visit the International Education page for more information.


    Bow Valley College typically begins to accept applications for programs offered at our downtown Calgary campus thirteen (13) months in advance of the start date.  When the first day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will open at 8:00 a.m. on the first business day of the month.


    Application Open Date


    8:00 a.m. on August 1* of the previous year


    8:00 a.m. on December 1 of the previous year


    8:00 a.m. on April 1 of the previous year

    Step 3: Gather your transcripts

    • When applying to Bow Valley College programs through Apply Alberta, applicants authorize Bow Valley College to obtain Alberta high school and post-secondary transcripts from any participating Alberta institution which the applicant has previously attended. There is no charge for transcripts obtained through Apply Alberta.

    • All other applicants must arrange for their transcripts to be sent to Bow Valley College - either through the provincial education department or the institution that issued the transcript(s). If the applicant has not yet completed one or more of the courses required under the Academic Admission requirements, the applicant can submit a Proof of Enrolment for Conditional Acceptance.

      • If you were educated outside of Canada, you must provide original academic documents as well as a notarized English translation if the original is not written in English. Some programs at Bow Valley College may require an official assessment provided by the International Qualification Assessment Service (IQAS).

    • If the applicant has not yet completed one or more of the courses required for admission to the program, the applicant should submit a Proof of Enrolment for Conditional Acceptance to ensure the timely processing of his or her application for admission
      • The Proof of Enrolment letter must be:

    (a) signed by the school principal, secretary, or guidance counsellors; and
    (b) must list the course(s) in which the student is enrolled; and
    (c) list the course start and end dates; and
    (d) be submitted via fax to (403) 297-4887 or by mail to:

    Step 4: Pay the non-refundable application fee

    In order for us to process your application, you must pay the non-refundable application fee (application fee notes)

    • If you apply online through Apply Alberta, you can pay online using Visa or MasterCard. If you do not wish to pay online, you can choose the 'Pay Later' option. By choosing this option, your application information will be held until payment is made using one of the options listed below.
      • Applicants can pay over the phone using Visa or MasterCard
      • Applicants can pay in person, at the Registrar's Office, using Visa, MasterCard, cash, debit, personal cheque, certified cheque, money order.
      • Applicants can mail in a personal cheque, certified cheque, or money order (do not send cash through mail):

    Step 5: Receive confirmation of receipt of application

    Once you submit your application and pay the required application fee, you will receive further information from the Admissions Office about the next steps required.

    The domestic student application fee is $65 CAD

    • The domestic student fee applies to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents (Landed Immigrants) only
    • There is no charge for LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) applications
    • Aboriginal applicants will not be charged an application fee if they self-declare their Aboriginal status on the Application for Admission. Applicants need to be prepared to provide proof of Aboriginal status if required by the College. Bow Valley College is committed to increasing access to College programs for Aboriginal individuals and their application fees are covered through the generosity of donors to the college.

    The international student application fee is $130 CAD
