Dental Business Assistant Certificate

This accelerated full-time program (24 weeks) is scheduled over two semesters and prepares you to manage the office workflow in a dental practice. Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Credit in English 30-1 or 30-2 or equivalent
  • Credit in a Grade 10 Math (excluding Math 10-4 and Math 16 levels)
OR:
  • Successful completion of the General Equivalency Development test (GED) with a standard score of 520 in Language Arts: Reading and Writing and 450 in Math
OR:
  • Satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions test

Work Experience Requirements
A four-week work experience - scheduled by the College - provides hands-on practice in a dental office. With the direct guidance of a workplace preceptor, the basic skills required of a Dental Business Assistant are practiced. Regular contact with a Bow Valley College Instructor/Work Experience Officer is provided. The course requires full-time attendance for the four weeks. Shifts and rotations will vary between work placement sites. All shifts and days of the week may be included.

The criteria listed below must be completed prior to the start of work experience:

  • Submission of a cleared Police Information Check (PIC) dated within 90 days of the start of work experience.
  • Immunization requirements must be met prior to work experience. Details are provided after being accepted into the program.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Health Provider taken within six months prior to work experience.
