North Campus praised by counsellors

February 16, 2011

High school and agency counsellors came to Bow Valley College on Feb. 4 to learn about the College's programs and services for the annual BVC Counsellors' Update.

"Counsellors' Update is the perfect opportunity to connect with counsellors who work with BVC's prospective students on a daily basis," says Rebecca Teebay-Webb, Recruitment Specialist. "The attendees were thrilled to see our newly renovated North Campus and to learn more about our programs directly from the perspective of alumni, instructors and admissions officers."

Twenty-four agency counsellors and 18 high school counsellors listened to presentations from the College's Business, Justice, Health Care and Human Services programs.

Panels consisting of Program Coordinators and a graduate or student presented important information to the group about BVC's diploma programs in Justice Studies, Business Administration Financial Services, Interior Decorating and Merchandising, and Pharmacy Technician.

Learner Success Services also presented to the group the range of services it makes available to students.

2011 Counsellors' update

High school and agency counsellers filled room N231 recently at the College's annual Counsellors' Update to learn about BVC's programs and services.

"The event was very informative and timely," says Shannon Giroux-Wong, Career Practitioner, Ernest Manning High School. "I also appreciated the opportunity to network with some of the agencies that I have not had as much contact with in the recent past."

After the presentations, the group of counsellors was also treated to an interactive tour of North Campus, visiting new labs, classrooms and study spaces.

"Our next event is Career Exploration Day, so we're looking forward to welcoming over 200 high school students on March 4," says Rebecca.
