I think the Corporate Readiness Training Program is a good opportunity for new immigrants to understand and learn about the work culture in Alberta. It gives immigrants a chance to be part of a company and gain Canadian experience. I completed my work experience placement at Westco, a major fertilizer distributor and supplier of agronomic information in Western Canada.  At Westco, I worked as a Project Engineer Assistant and collaborated on a $50 million project to decontaminate a former fertilizer plant site to meet environmental standards.

Although I was not offered employment with my host company at the end of the program, I used the job search skills I had learned in the program. I sent my resume in response to an ad for a bilingual Technical Representative at Shell in the Lubricants and Fuels Department. I was successful and today I am working at Shell. I am very happy in my position and enjoy the work that I am doing.
