Statement from Bow Valley College
Bow Valley College is aware of developments in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar case and the recent arrests.
We know there are questions, and the college is providing the following information:
Bow Valley College protects the private information of our students.
As a public postsecondary institution, Bow Valley College recruits thousands of international students each year, and India is one of our largest markets. They form an important community on campus that contributes to richer discussions, presents different worldviews, and challenges assumptions in and outside the classroom.
International admissions are premised on meeting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements, program prerequisites, and academic requirements.
We have a record of ethical recruitment of international students, including working with agents who are vetted through a rigorous and annual review process.
Bow Valley College does not have a record of ever having an affiliation with a company named EthicWorks Immigration Services.
Bow Valley College is required by IRCC to verify and report on the academic standing of its international students twice per year.
International enrolment at Bow Valley College stands at 27 per cent of total full-load equivalents in the current academic year. This includes approximately three per cent attributed to learners in the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel, who are eligible for study in the College’s English Language Learning – Language Instruction for Newcomers, which is typically reserved for permanent residents or refugees only.
Bow Valley College is committed to providing domestic and international students with high-quality educational experiences and outcomes.
