Bow Valley College announces new Vice President, Academic
Bow Valley College is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Crowe as Vice President, Academic, effective January 4, 2022.
As Vice President, Academic, Mr. Crowe will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the academic portfolio and related leadership initiatives. He will be a champion for academic excellence in teaching and learning, applied research, innovation, and the integration of academic and non-academic services to support the whole student, while advancing the broader mission, strategies, and goals of the College.

Currently serving as Vice President, Academic and Research at Lakeland College, Mr. Crowe provides strategic leadership in aligning programs to industry need through new certificates, diplomas, and degrees; expanding applied research capability; attaining impressive student satisfaction ratings; fostering a high-performance culture; and building constructive and results-oriented relationships with industry, community, government, and philanthropic stakeholders.
Mr. Crowe’s extensive background includes serving as President of the Lakeland College Faculty Association, as well as Dean, Teaching and Learning before his appointment to the Executive Committee. In addition, he holds a Master of Science, Ecology degree from the University of Lethbridge, where he also attained an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science. He has sought numerous professional development opportunities, engaging competencies in building high-performance teams, leadership, coaching and mentoring, and advanced negotiating skills.
Bow Valley College would like to thank our Interim Vice President, Academic Dr. Paulette Hanna, who will finish her time with the College in January 2022. Dr. Hanna has been instrumental in the development and launch of several new programs, provided strategic oversight to establishing and launching the Bow Valley College Centre for Entertainment Arts, and promoted the College’s strong positioning in applied research standing and contribution. She will support in the leadership transition to Mr. Crowe.
