Comprehensive Institutional Plan

May 31, 2012

Hon. Stephen Khan, MLA
Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education
402 Legislature Building
10800 97 Avenue
Edmonton, AB T5K 2B6

Dear Minister Khan,

On behalf of the Bow Valley College community, I am pleased to submit this 2012-2015 Comprehensive Institutional Plan (PDF 869 KB). This represents our first long stride toward implementing the priorities set out in our long-range strategic plan, Vision 2020: Learning into the Future.

Through the course of this plan, we will reorganize our academic division to respond to new priorities, increase contract activity to deliver workplace training, and deepen our connections in the community. We will adopt the information technology infrastructure required to ensure our systems, processes, and practices meet the needs of an advanced learning community.

I am very pleased to share with you that we are also submitting a financial plan that anticipates balanced budgets in each of the next three years. The outcomes of our risk management and longer-term financial sustainability initiatives are bearing fruit on our fiscal position. The Board approved this Comprehensive Institutional Plan at its meeting on May 23, 2012.

This plan draws on the collective wisdom of the College's many stakeholders and community members. I wish to acknowledge as well the policy direction and support from the government in ensuring a strong post-secondary education system for Alberta and its people.

Should you wish to discuss any detail of this 2012-2015 Comprehensive Institutional Plan, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Joanne Stalinski, Chair

Bow Valley College Board of Governors
